Performance
PURGE is a choreographic work by the newly founded Institute of Interconnected Realities (IIR).
The research in PURGE wants to discover if through the use of a purely affectual energy we can go beyond the mediation of language and discover a more direct relationship with an audience. To access these intensities we employ a performance practice, based on unlearning, decensorizing, and going beyond the normative capacities of the body into a realm of the unknown. This, as we have discovered, is a reciprocal process, as we learn to release our inhibitions, blockages and fears the audience’s bodies respond in the same way. It is a way of inviting the audience into a truly shared space and making the indescribable accessible.
Is it possible to find a place that exists beyond the identities forged through words?
The piece presented at the biennial will be the first manifestation of a longer research.
IIR is a platform influenced by the concepts of decentralized choreography. The founding members are the choreographers and performers Ida-Elisabthe Larsen & Marie-Louise Stentebjerg (two-women-machine-show) and the text writer and actor Jonathan Bonnici.
